![]() ![]() Side-note: actually this one single chapter of one adventure path is largely responsible for more or less making me give up permenantly on random encounters, and is why it's eaten SO many hours of prep-time over the years. So, rather than run them as tiresome "party verses one monster" encounters, I can fold them more together (like I have ended up doing with all the random encounters the modeul wanted to have happen ovr Occipitus). Thanks, that does indeed solve the problem, and I was, in fact, missing something.Īctually, looking at the size of that map (about 570 x 470 feet ish), the several seperate enounters aren't that far from each other. THEN you get 15' round thing, which makes a lot more sense, and it's not as punishing as benig teleported back tens of miles because you needed to have a wee or collapsed! It's been so long since I last looked at this anyway that it never occurred to me to check if there was another map, since the general text had me thinking the plain of cysts applied to an extended area.)īUT, if you don't find the map and go "oh, right," the module text doesn't, itself, make it terribly clear that the PCs have to travel 80 miles TO the point of the test - especially since they still have to follow the lantern to get to the start of the test. (Sorry, between one thing and another, I've been working on and off on this one chapter for YEARS - mostly because there are SO MANY encounters and random encounters and statblocks and, frack it feels like I've been stuck on Occipitus MYSELF. But, yes, when I flipped over the page, I DID see the other map. Hang on, I got as far as scanning the map of Occipitus in, since the map of occipitus shows an 80-mile trip to the middle of the Plain of Cysts. ![]()
